31-07-2014

On 29 July, the European Commission finally approved PLL LOT S.A.’s Restructuring Plan and thus found that the state aid granted to the company was compliant with EU law. This decision ends formal proceedings against the Polish carrier.

DZP’s Infrastructure and Energy Practice advised PLL LOT S.A. in proceedings for obtaining approval of the Plan from the European Commission. DZP already assisted the client before: in May 2013 the European Commission accepted state aid of PLN 400 million for the airline, finding that aid aimed to rescue undertakings in economic difficulties was in line with the EU rules.

The proceedings for granting state aid started already in 2012, and experts from the Practice advised the client on them, including during the notification proceedings before the Commission.

The decision of Tuesday will enable the carrier to continue the Plan until October 2015.

The team advising PLL LOT S.A. is composed of experts from the Infrastructure and Energy Practice: Marcin Krakowiak, Partner, Head of Practice, Anna Glapa, Senior Associate, Agata Kudelska, Senior Associate and Irena Filipowicz.
