SAS Scandinavian Airlines : launches two new direct routes from Scandinavia to Poland

17-10-2016

SAS Scandinavian Airlines announce opening two new direct routes between Poland and Scandinavia in its 2017 summer program:  Stockholm – Krakow and Bergen – Gdansk.

  Stockholm – Krakow route

Flights on Stockholm – Krakow route will begin on 26 March 2017, and will be available twice a week (Thursdays and Sundays) according to the following schedule:

On Thursdays:
•    Departure from Stockholm at 8.15 pm, arrival in Krakow at 10.05 pm
•    Departure from Krakow at 10.45 pm, arrival in Stockholm at 00.05 am

On Sundays:

•    Departure from Stockholm at 7.10 am, arrival in Krakow at 9.00 am.
•    Departure from Krakow at 9.40 am, arrival in Stockholm at 11.35 am.

The route will be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft.

SAS aircraft departing from Krakow will land at Arlanda airport, which is situated near the capital of Sweden and is connected with the centre of Stockholm by Arlanda Express high speed train (20 minutes).
.
In line with SAS expectations, the new route, together with the continuation of the Krakow - Copenhagen route launched in the summer 2016, is going to be an interesting offer both for Scandinavians, and Polish passengers who travel from the south of the country.

From Stockholm, the journey may be continued with SAS airlines to over a dozen cities in Sweden, rest of Scandinavia and selected European cities.

Bergen – Gdansk route

Flights on the Bergen-Gdansk route will be available since 29 March 2017 three days a week (on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays) according to the following schedule:
.
•    Departure from Bergen at 8.05 pm, arrival in Gdansk at 9.45 pm

•    Departure from Gdansk at 10.25 pm, arrival in Bergen at 00.10 am
.
The route will be operated by Boeing 737 aircraft.

The new route will perfectly complement the SAS current offer at Gdansk, i.e. flights to Copenhagen (currently up to four flights a days, and from the 2017 summer schedule - up to as many as five flights a day), as well as to Stockholm and Oslo.

It is expected that the launch of this route will meet expectations of those who travel for tourist purposes, and will have positive influence on the employee traffic. Gdansk is the second biggest European destination for Bergen after London. At the same time, the new route will complement the current offer of flights to Poland for a big number of Poles living in Scandinavia.

The two new Stockholm –Krakow and Bergen – Gdansk routes are yet another important lines on the SAS route network. Currently, SAS offers in Poland direct routes to Copenhagen from GdaĹ„sk, Kraków, PoznaĹ„, WrocĹ‚aw and Warsaw, as well as from GdaĹ„sk to Stockholm (Arlanda airport)) and Oslo (Gardemoen airport).

15 new SAS routes in the 2017 summer program

Apart from the two new routes between Poland and Scandinavia: Stockholm – Kraków and Bergen – GdaĹ„sk, SAS has also announced the launch of thirteen other new European routes in the summer program for 2017:

•    From Copenhagen to Riga and to Faroe Islands, Malta and Sardinia,
•    From Oslo to Aalborg and Pristina,
•    From Stockholm to Munich, Pristina, Lisbon and Shannon,
•    From Aarhus and Kristiansand to Malaga,
•    From Stavanger to Nice.

“SAS has more departures and destinations than any other Scandinavian airline and we are continuously improving our offer to our customers. The way we do this includes opening new routes, offering all new cabins, fast track, lounges plus we are about to take delivery of our first new Airbus A320neo,” Rickard Gustafson, President and CEO of SAS says.

In the 2017 summer season, the carrier will launch, in total, 15 new routes. This means that SAS will have 1,800 more flights to Spain, Portugal and Croatia and 330,000 more seats than in the summer season this year.
