Ingka Centres Polska Sp. z o.o.: Swedspan Group/IKEA invests in Podlasie

A cornerstone at the construction of a new plant of the Swedspan Group/IKEA in the community of Orla near the town of Bielsk Podlaski in the Podlaskie voivodeship will be laid today. The investor will invest €160 million. and create 230 new job positions.

The investment of the companies Swedspan/IKEA is one of the biggest projects of PAIiIZ in this year and one of the most important enterprises in the Eastern region of Poland. A new technological process for manufacturing ultralight HDF Green-Light panels guarantees a better quality and a smaller weight of the product as well as reduction in cost.

The investor will receive a part of refinancing under IE OP Measure 4.5.1: Support for investment of considerable importance to the economy. The project will be carried out in stages. The investment will be self-sufficient with respect to power consumption in as much the company plans to spend about €40 million. to build a CHP installation. [...]

The new investment in the community of Orla will contribute to the agility and development of the region and the whole Eastern part of Poland. A total of 230 new job positions will be created within the new factory. Further job positions will be created by suppliers. It will greatly contribute to lowering the unemployment rate in the region. The Podlaskie voivodeship will gain worldwide recognition not only as the bison’s realm but also as a region of innovative production of HDF plates and a strong centre of furniture industry.
