3-08-2007

According to the report, prepared by the Gdańsk Institute for Market Economics (IBnGR) during the last six months PAIiIZ has recorded great success in attracting foreign direct investment to Poland. During the period of the first five months a record number of foreign investors have come to the country, investing a joint sum of 6,4 billion USD. From January to May of this year PAIiIZ concluded the servicing of 31 investment projects. The results of these projects will reflected in the creation of 10.5 thousand workplaces and an inflow of 746 million EUR.

Poland against the background of the other EU member states stands out by the competitiveness of its work force – said PaweĹ‚ Wojciechowski, the President of PAIiIZ. - PAIiIZ takes particular notice of those investment projects which reduce the unemployment rate and which create new work places.

Most of the projects have been completed with American firms. Following these were investors from Japan and Germany. Amongst the mentioned projects were mostly those in the sectors of: BPO, electronics and the automotive sector. The investments in these sectors also generated the highest numbers of jobs.
The decisions of foreign companies on their location of new investments, were influenced not only by the positive economic climate and the system of investment incentives, but also due to the zealous activities of PAIiIZ. Foreign investors positively rate PAIiIZ’s cooperation.
In the opinion of most of the representatives of foreign firms surveyed by the IBnGR, the strengths of the Agency are above all: the accuracy of the information provided and the analysis, as well as the high level of the servicing of investors by the Agency’s personnel.
