Foreigners’ fine tickets payable with bank cards

1-10-2009

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration has drafted an amendment to the Code of Petty Offences which provides that from January 1, 2011 it will be possible to pay a fine ticket with a bank card. The changes will be of vital importance especially in case a fine ticket (e.g. for speeding) is imposed on a person who stays in Poland only temporarily. In practice, it will apply first of all to foreigners. The provisions binding so far provide that such persons should pay a fine ticket in cash which may be problematic if they do not have Polish zlotys in cash.
