Eltel Networks Energetyka S.A.: Eltel to open a Global Shared Services Centre in Gdansk

In June 2016 Eltel announced its intention to establish a new Global Shared Services centre in Poland later this year. The decision has now been taken to locate the centre to Gdansk. The centre will provide all Eltel businesses globally with support services in the field of finance, human resources and procurement. Already today Eltel has significant business operations in Poland and the new business support centre further strengthens Eltel's presence in the country.

The aim is to build a high quality and cost efficient Shared Services Centre for 80 talented employees through the consolidation of specific tasks that currently are performed in various locations in all Eltel countries. The implementation of the transition will be two years. The recruitment process has already begun and the new positions will primarily include roles specialised in accounting, finance and human resources.

Eltel is a provider of technical services to the Infranet industry, spanning over Eltel’s three business segments: Power, Communication and Transport & Security. With its roots in Finland and Sweden, Eltel has a strong position in the Nordic region – which also is its largest geographical market. Today, Eltel has also gained the leading positions in the Baltic region and Poland and is currently establishing growth platforms in Germany and the United Kingdom. Eltel also operates in certain African countries. In 2015 Eltel’s net sales amounted to EUR 1,255 million and the current number of employees is approximately 9,600.

Eltel’s strategy is to achieve annual average growth of 10% which should be well supported by a harmonised and specialised Group Shared Services function. The new centre will give us an efficient and scalable platform to support Eltel’s ambition to grow, both organically and through acquisitions. We are operating in a highly competitive market and our customers expect us to deliver high quality services in a cost efficient way. The new Global Service Centre in Poland will help us fulfill these requirements - says Gert Sköld, CFO Eltel AB

We are pleased to have selected Poland and Gdansk as the new base for our Group Shared Services. Gdansk has a well-developed and mature shared services market with experienced and available competences at a competitive cost level. Gdansk offers a good location with well-functioning connections from other Eltel countries. I am really looking forward to building a strong team with the right people to provide the support to our growing business in the future –adds Satu Koskinen, Director of Eltel’s Global Shared Services.

From the very beginning the investment was supported by the initiative of Invest inPomerania, in particular by the Pomerania Development Agency and the Gdańsk Economic Development Agency (InvestGDA).

The investment of Eltel is special for us as it will be the first in Pomerania shared service center from Sweden, which is an important FDI source market for us. As a region we want to increase our competitiveness in the Baltic Sea area. We are pleased that our neighbors recognized the potential of our human resources and office facilities. We will make every effort to create good conditions for further development for Eltel - emphasizes Wiesław Byczkowski, Deputy Marshal of Pomorskie Voivodship

Gdansk and wider - Tri-City has been regarded as a region offering the most favorable conditions for IT and BPO companies. More and more companies choose this area as a location for its headquarters, offices and branches and we are very happy to announce that Elte will join the cluster.  What’s more, the new company in the city means new interesting career opportunities for young people and professionals from our region – says Andrzej Bojanowski, Deputy Mayor of Gdansk.
