Santander Bank Polska S.A.: Help for Ukraine

14-03-2022

Santander Bank Polska supports Ukrainians at this most tragic moment. Already in the very first days of the war outbreak, the bank introduced certain solutions to facilitate banking for the Ukrainian refugees coming to Poland and all those who would like to help them.

Since 25 February, we have not been charging fees for transfers from and to Ukraine. This decision applies to the standard, fast-track and express transfers of all types and in all currencies. Free transfers to and from Ukraine are available to all individual and business customers.  This way, we want to make it easier to provide financial aid to Ukraine.

The Bank also supports companies registered in Ukraine and those owned by individuals with Ukrainian citizenship.  Until the end of May, Santander Bank Polska will not collect fees for a business account in PLN and foreign currencies or for a debit card.

By the end of May, Ukrainians may use free of charge personal accounts in PLN and foreign currencies and the monthly fee for debit card will not be charged.

The Bank has also simplified the process of opening accounts for the Ukrainians by limiting the number of required documents.

Santander Bank Polska also takes care of its Ukrainian employees. They receive temporary financial help, may receive their salaries for 3 months in advance and take extra, fully paid, days off. The psychological assistance is available to all employees from Ukraine.

Moreover, acting together with other banks from Santander Group in Europe, Santander Bank Polska donated over PLN 4.5m to humanitarian organisations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.  In response to increased needs, Santander Bank Polska launched additional charity project “Double Power of Help” together with Santander Foundation. Each donation will be doubled, i.e. the Bank will add PLN 1 to each PLN 1 paid in by donors.
