Fortum Power and Heat Polska: The opening of a new power and heat plant

One of the latest investments of Finnish leader in energy sector - Fortum Power and Heat - was opened yesterday in Częstochowa.

New power and heat plant, which is described as one of the most innovative in Europe, will use coal and in 30% - biomass. Construction works began two years ago - usually such investments last about 8 years. One hundred companies and about four thousand employess were working on the building site.

"This is the one of the most environmentally friendly investments in this part of Europe" - says Piotr Górnik, Director of Production and Distribution in Fortum Power and Heat Polska. The investment prepares the company for the new, more strict regulations concerning environment protection, which will be introduced by the EU in 2015.
