Vastint Poland Sp. z o.o.: Business Garden Warsaw awarded LEED Gold certification

11-02-2014

SwedeCenter was awarded LEED Gold certification for an office building forming part of the business park in Warsaw known as Business Garden. It is the fourth project of the developer which was awarded LEED Gold level certification in the last twelve months.

“We are very pleased that another building we constructed was awarded the certificate. Undoubtedly, it confirms that the green business park concept we are realizing under the name: Business Garden, is based on the environmentally friendly building principles.” - said Roger Andersson, the Managing Director of SwedeCenter.

A number of proven environmentally friendly technologies and solutions which make it possible to reduce power and water consumption costs were used in Business Garden. Energy saving lighting systems comprising control systems and motion sensors, switching off lights when they are not required were among others installed in the buildings. Energy saving and silent ventilation and cooling system is based on a chilled beam system, which makes it possible to adjust the temperature to the tenants’ needs.  Also, the so-called free-cooling system is used to chill the buildings.  In order to avoid the “heat island effect”, building roofs are covered by greenery, and rainwater is used to water green areas surrounding the buildings. Further, in compliance with the certification requirements, a number of locally produced building materials were used to construct the buildings, and by the same token motor vehicle emissions associated with transportation were reduced, and more than 65% of construction waste was recycled. Just like in all SwedeCenter’s buildings that have been certified, the complex offers changing rooms and showers for cyclists.

“We took all efforts and implemented many advanced technical solutions which do not only contribute to the reduced office operating costs, but also and more importantly increase our tenants’ comfort at their workplace” – said David Pettersson, the Development Director, coordinating works related to the certification.

Business Garden, a flagship project of SwedeCenter, is located at one of the main traffic arteries of Warsaw, Ĺ»wirki i Wigury Street. Ultimately, the project will consist of 7 buildings with a total area of 90 000 m2. The elements distinguishing the project include: its unique architecture, carefully designed internal garden and a wide scope of additional amenities available in the complex.  The project was designed by JSK Architekci.

The complex is owned and managed by SwedeCenter, part of the Inter IKEA Group.  The project in Warsaw is one of three projects executed under the Business Garden brand in Poland.
