LEGO Polska: Does not suffer from crisis

Despite of an overall decline in the global toy market, LEGO is optimistic with regard to prospects for the second half of 2009.
LEGO has reported a 23 percent increase in sales compared with the first half of 2008. It has also posted a huge increase in earnings before interest and tax (EBIT).
Profits before tax totalled 927 million kroner for the first six months of this year, up from 564 million kroner in the first half of 2008.
It also reported an increase in its market share as the company had seen increases in English-speaking markets and in Eastern Europe in particular.
LEGO Group was planning to invest to increase its capacity in light of ‘expectations of sustained growth’ and had installed new moulding machinery in Denmark, Hungary and Mexico as well as beginning construction on a warehouse facility in the Czech Republic.
