Vattenfall, a producer of heat and electricity for residents of Warsaw and the surrounding area, organized the campaign of collecting  christamss trees.  Each tree, which will go into the trash will be used to produce heat.

This winter christmass  trees  will be used as a fuel for power plant boilers that serve the production of green energy for Warsaw.

Christmas trees used as biomass will be used in Zeran Power Station to produce heat and electricity.
• 100 tonnes of Christmas trees is replaced by 60 tons of coal
• 60 tons of coal = 920 GJ of heat (enough to heat 30 homes for a year 60m2)
• 60 tons of coal = 128 MWh of electricity (annual energy consumption by 50 families).
