Airlines from all over the world have once again rated Copenhagen Airport as no. 1 in the world in terms of route development at the world's leading aviation conference, World Routes, in Durban, South Africa.

Copenhagen Airport wins the award in the category "Airports between 20 and 50 million passengers" ahead of the airports in Abu Dhabi, Brussels, Dublin, Munich and Vienna. This is the second time in three years that Copenhagen Airport wins in this category.

Dorte Bech Vizard, Director of Invest in Denmark welcomes the award:

- “I am very pleased to see the World Routes’ top ranking of Copenhagen Airport’s unique ability to attract new routes. International air routes are a key factor today, both in regard to tourism, business and international collaborations.”

Northern Europe's main hub

Copenhagen Airport is the main hub to the Nordic and Baltic countries with more than 60 airlines operating from the airport, serving more than 100 destinations. The airport handles approximately 350,000 tons of airfreight each year and has the shortest goods transit times of all European airports. The airport furthermore acts as both SAS’ principal airport and DHL’s Northern European hub.

The 21st World Routes conference is an annual event at which some 2,500 delegates from 250 airlines, 650 airports and 170 tourism organisations worldwide meet to discuss the development of new air routes.
