Nordic countries best for trade

'The Global Enabling Trade Report 2009’ provided by the World Economic Forum (WEF) is a new ranking of 121 economies with Nordic countries in the top positions.
Denmark has been ranked the fourth most trade-friendly country in the world, while Sweden, Norway and Finland claimed the fifth, seventh and eighth spot respectively.

The report measures and analyses institutions, policies and services that enable trade in national economies around the world, highlighting for policy-makers a country's strengths and the challenges to be addressed.

The ranking is based on such factors as :

• domestic and foreign market access,
• efficiency of custom administration,
• efficiency of import-export procedures,
• transparency of  border administration,
• availability and quality of transport infrastructure
• availability and quality of services,
• availability and use of ICTs,
• regulatory environment
• physical security

 

Singapore and Hong Kong and Switzerland took the top three spots in the WEF ranking, while Poland was listed on fifty-seventh position.
