Sharing City. On the way to the Warsaw Pavilion of Architecture

The idea of “​sharing city” and the role of residents, public institutions and centers of architecture in city development will be the topic of the debate organized as part of the project “See You in Zodiak Next Year!”. The project initiates the activity of the Warsaw Pavilion of Architecture ZODIAK, which will open in the autumn of 2018.

Nikolai Sveistrup, head of the BUILD&CITIES program of the Danish Architecture Center DAC in Copenhagen will be part of the debate and will tell about sharing city in the context of DAC’s activities. Other international speakers of the “Sharing City” debate will be Daniella Huszar from KEK in Budapest and Yvonne Franquinet from ARCAM in Amsterdam. The architects involved in the development of ZODIAK Pavilion, as well as the chief architect of Warsaw, Marlena Happach, will also participate.

The idea of ​​constructing of the Warsaw Pavilion of Architecture came from the need to create a center of architectural knowledge and exchange, but most of all an open forum for a lively dialogue on architecture and urban development. The project “See You in Zodiak Next Year!” is a prelude to the future activities of the Pavilion, the revitalized pearl of the post-modernist architecture located in the center of Warsaw. Thus, the program includes a meeting and debate with guests from three European centers of architecture, educational workshops for families and artistic interventions in the space around the Pavilion.

The Danish Architecture Center DAC is committed to developing interest in and knowledge about architecture and urban development of the city, and is a place for exchanging experiences and knowledge. It organizes events for both professionals and the general public that include exhibitions, seminars, city walks and many more. DAC operates since 1985, its new headquarters will be open in the spring of 2018.
