14-03-2007

In May the merger of DNB Nord and BISE will start. After approval of Commission of Banking Supervision DNB Nord is waiting for decision of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, which should be made this month. Jarosław Dąbrowski, president of DNB Nord, forecasts that merger should be finalized this year. If the merger took place today, the bank with total assets of 4,8 mln PLN and 425 mln PLN of own funds would be created. Ambition of DNB Nord is to be in the top 15 banks in Poland. To achieve that more mergers are planned, not only in banking but also in TFI (Investment Funds Association) and credit agents sector.
When it comes to employment situation president of DNB Nord doesn’t want to give the details on how many redundancies will be the result from the  merger. At the moment both banks hire 900 employees from which only 180 are employees of DNB Nord. Considering next stages of market expansion DÄ…browski estimates that employment may reach the number of 1 300 people.
DÄ…browski didn’t reveal also the financial aspects of merger. “ Two banks from different markets are merging, so nor costs of merger nor savings from synergy will be high."
