Periodical inability to work

1-02-2009

In accordance with an amendment to the Labor Code of February 1, 2009, employees who have turned 50 will receive from the employer the due remuneration in case of inability to work lasting for up to 14 days during a calendar year. For a period of longer than 14 days in a calendar year, such employees will be entitled to a sickness benefit paid by the Social Insurance Institution.

Previously in the aforementioned situations, the period of 33 days was binding for payment of the remuneration by the employer and it was identical for all employees regardless of their age.

For employees under 50 years of age the provisions have not changed.
