Evidence at distance

13-04-2010

On March 23, 2010 there comes into force a regulation of the Minister of Justice on devices and technical means making it possible to hear evidence at distance in civil proceedings.
In practice, the regulation will enable to hear evidence by means of technical devices, which enable two-way communication in real-time, making possible the transfer of sound or image and sound between the participant of the proceedings. The court conducting the proceedings will be able to directly hear the particular evidence, which is not irrelevant for e.g. judging the reliability of witnesses.
The new provisions will allow for speeding up of court proceedings, especially in situations were in the particular case witnesses who live far from the court conducting the proceedings, have to be heard.
