Court sessions recorded electronically

31-05-2010

On July 1, changes to the Civil Procedure Code are coming into force, which introduce the rule that open court sessions in civil cases will be recorded with sound recording devices or devices recording both picture and sound. However, such electronic recording of court sessions will depend on the availability of technical devices in a given court. According to the authors of the act, the necessary devices will be provided to courts systematically over some period of time. This process will have been completed by 2012. According to the authors of the changes, the new form of recording of court sessions will result in shortening of the sessions. Those who criticise the new solutions underline however that the time necessary for the parties and the court to review the contents of the protocols is likely to be prolonged respectively.
