On November 16, 2010 the government adopted the assumptions for the draft of the act on management of packaging and packaging waste as submitted by the minister of environment. The basic purpose of the proposed changes is to make the system of packaging waste management to be more closely monitored. In accordance with the assumptions, the entrepreneurs or recovery organizations which in a given year do not obtain the required levels of recycling for all packaging will have to pay the so called product fee. Non-observance of the act is to be penalized fines from 5,000 up to 500,00 zloties.
