UOKiK vs Polish Post

22-11-2010

In its judgement of November 17, 2010 the Court for Competition and Customer Protection (SOKiK) confirmed the standpoint of the President of the Office of Competition and Customer Protection (UOKiK), that the Polish Post violated the collective interest of consumers by not delivering the mail. SOKiK also kept in force the fine as imposed on the Post in the amount of 6.6 million zloties. The court’s judgement relates to the decision of President of UOPiP from December 2008, in which the President of UOKiK stated that the Polish Post delivered unpunctually the mail entrusted to it and thus imposed a fine on the Post. The Polish Post complained against the decision. The judgement is still not legally valid. The Polish Post has the right to submit an appeal to the Appeal Court in Warsaw.
