PAIiIZ: Swedspan/Ikea investment announced as the largest one in 2010

In 2010 PAIiIZ closed 47 investment project i.e. 11 more than last year, which were jointly worth EUR619,2 million. The investments will create 9 305 new jobs. At the moment the Agency has been supporting 144 projects.

PAIiIZ rewarded three investors who executed the largest projects in three categories: the biggest investment, investment which created the highest number of jobs and the most important investment in the field of new technologies.

Swedspan/IKEA was rewarded as the Largest 2010 Investment. The project was one of the biggest among those supported this year by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency and, at the same time, one of the most important business projects in Eastern Poland. In 2011 the company will be producing up to 250.000 m3 low emission products for the furniture industry. A new technology process used in the production of the company’s ultrahigh Green-Light UT-HDF guarantees better properties of the product, its lightness and reduction of costs.
The company will obtain financial subsidy from the Innovation Economy-Operational Programme, Measure 4.5.1 - support for investments of a considerable importance for the Polish economy in the production sector.

The Orla-based project will effectively help activate and develop the commune of Orla and the whole macroregion of Eastern Poland. The number of jobs which will be generated by the project in the Swedspan/IKEA factory is 230 and further workplaces are expected to be created by the factory's suppliers in the region.
A project by HP Global e-Business Operations was selected as the Investment of the Year 2010 which will generate the highest number of jobs i.e. 1100. The company has been providing services in the sectors of BPO and SSC to organisations which form part of the Hewlett-Packard corporation and for external clintes.
This year’s award for the Investment of the Year 2010 in modern technologies was granted to Hamilton Sundstrand Poland. In the company’s R&D Centre in Rzeszów over 70 engineers will design and develop aeroplane auxiliary power units.
