Kinnarps Polska: Takes part in Volvo Ocean Race

13-10-2014

Kinnarps is ready for the world's toughest around the world sailing competition, the Volvo Ocean Race. When Team SCA's all-women crew raises anchor and begins the competition in Alicante in Spain, Kinnarps is also involved.

For nine months, our products will make the trip around the world and be a part of the pavilion that SCA will use between the race stages.

"We are very proud to be involved in this journey. Kinnarps is after all represented in more than 40 countries, but it will now be exciting to show the flexibility and playfulness in our furniture in a rather unusual context," says Paulina Lundström, Marketing & Communications Director at Kinnarps.

Important factors which were of significance when SCA looked for partners in the prestigious ship race were top quality and low environmental impact. And these demands are attainable by Kinnarps through its clear sustainability work.  Longer stopovers between each of the nine stages will give the sailors time to recuperate. It also provides SCA with the opportunity to strengthen brand awareness and customer relationships. Kinnarps' furniture will be on site in the SCA-pavilion around the world to facilitate the project team from SCA, the general public and media representatives.

"We always strive to furnish in the best possible way depending on what is required. For the SCA-pavilion, we have worked with flexible and functional environments that can cope with being moved, altered and still provide a welcoming feeling. The interior design solution is based on a space-efficient, ergonomic, sustainable and economical perspective," says Paulina Lundström.

The Volvo Ocean Race covers almost 40,000 nautical miles and the boats are expected to reach the finish line in Gothenburg in June 2015.
