Fortum Power and Heat Polska: introduces SmartLiving to Poland

15-03-2018

Fortum SmartLiving is a completely innovative service on the Polish market that integrates remote management of a flat and a building. The application adjusts the temperature and lighting in each room. It informs about the current use of electricity, heat and water, which has a real impact on the conscious consumption of resources. It limits the impact on the environment and increases the comfort of tenants through the skilful use of available technologies. Full control over the devices allows, for example, to call the elevator before leaving the apartment. The SmartLiving service has been tested as part of a pilot project carried out at a housing estate in Stockholm.

SmartLiving shows what is the current use of the media and allows you to customize them according to your needs. The user can, for example, change the temperature in individual rooms to be optimal for health. Inhabitants can also anonymously compare their consumption with other users and thus develop pro-ecological and economic habits. Fortum estimates that the system allows reducing heating costs up to 25% and savings of 20% on water and electricity bills. At the same time SmartLiving allows you to control every electrical device and remote monitoring of the situation in the apartment. The system will detect a fire, flooding and even an open window. Additionally, thanks to the communication function with the community, it will notify the neighbor or property manager about the event.

Fortum began implementing the SmartLiving service four years ago in Stockholm. Currently, intelligent software is used by residents of over 150 properties in the Royal Sea Port, a model housing estate for pro-ecological solutions. Another project in the capital of Sweden took off in the autumn of 2017 - the implementation takes place as part of the reclamation of a former industrial area. This year the SmartLiving service will also go live on the Polish market.

Fortum experts predict further software development based on new technologies and current trends. Already, residents can integrate with the system, e.g. video intercom or solar panels mounted on the roof of the building. If the estate is equipped with the appropriate infrastructure for electric cars, SmartLiving will charge them when the price for electricity is the lowest. It will also enable the setting of temporary entry codes for cleaning and servicing companies, which gives practical solutions for owners who rent apartments.

Full control over electrical devices in the apartment until recently remained a sphere of technological visions of the future. The development of smart home software has meant that now it can conquer the real estate market. Thanks to the SmartLiving application, Fortum wants to show that limiting the impact on the environment can go hand in hand with a higher standard of living.
