Volvo Cars wants to become the market leader in the premium segment of electric cars, which is why the company plans to switch completely to electric drive by 2030. In 9 years' time, only electric cars will remain on the Volvo offer. Models with an internal combustion engine, including hybrids, will disappear from the company's portfolio.

This revolutionary change is part of Volvo's ambitious climate plan. By taking decisive steps, the car manufacturer wants to reduce its carbon footprint as much as possible out of concern for the environment. Behind this decision are also the expected changes in legislation and the rapid development of the necessary infrastructure - the availability of an increasing number of fast charging stations is to convince customers to buy electric cars.

Volvo Cars' drive for full electrification goes hand in hand with an increased focus on online sales and a more attractive and transparent Care by Volvo service. All fully electric models will be sold online. Thus, the manufacturer is accelerating its electrification strategy. For several years, we have seen a rapidly growing demand for electrified Volvo models, while the demand for cars powered only by internal combustion engines is clearly decreasing.

To play the first fiddle, we must focus on profit-oriented solutions. Therefore, instead of investing in a segment that is shrinking, we are opting for the future - that is, electric drive and online sales, says Volvo Cars president Håkan Samuelsson. We are committed to being a leader in the rapidly growing premium segment of electric cars.

Volvo's first all-electric model, the XC40 Recharge, hit global markets last year. A few days ago, the manufacturer showed its second all-electric C40.

What's next? Volvo plans to release several more electrically powered models in the coming years. The car manufacturer would like such cars to account for half of global sales in 2025, while hybrids will fill the rest. The brand announces that in 2030 every new car with the Volvo logo will be completely electric.

Cars with internal combustion engines have no future, says Henrik Green, head of technology at Volvo Cars. We strive to become a manufacturer of all-electric cars, we are sure that this process will be completed by 2030. In this way, we will meet the expectations of our customers and it will also be our contribution to the fight against climate change.
