Fortum Power and Heat Polska: More heat from the network, less smog - air protection program in Wrocław starts.

20-02-2018

Development of heating infrastructure, fewer individual stoves and boiler rooms, more residents using network heat in the city center, and thus improvement of air quality in the capital of Lower Silesia - these are the main assumptions of the program "CZYSTA ENERGIA DLA WROCŁAWIA" implemented by Fortum.

The program of the company responsible for heat supply in Wrocław assumes, among others, expansion of the heating network, development of low-emission energy sources, environmental education and a special anti-smog package for the city.

ANTISMOG PACKAGE

As part of the Fortum package, it will donate PLN 1 million to support the construction of internal heating installations. The process of applying for support will be transparent and will be consulted with the City Hall and the Social Council at Fortum. The lack of internal installations is one of the main barriers preventing the connection of the building to the heating network in the center of Wrocław. The owner or property manager is responsible for the installation.

The anti-smog package also assumes lower costs related to the implementation of new connections to the network. Fortum will finance the construction of the connection in full, it will not collect the so-called connection fee, and possible costs related to the construction of the node will be distributed to residents for convenient installments. With a view to new recipients of heat, a clear compendium of knowledge about the connection of real estate to the network will be created. Dedicated consultants will advise how to obtain public funding for an internal installation. They will also help at every stage of the connection procedure.

The priority for the anti-smog package will be the downtown. Fortum undertakes that in the designated area it will connect each tenement house and property with an internal heating installation or have an installation in progress. From the moment of submitting the application, the connection will be established within a maximum of 12 months.

NETWORK HEAT NOT ONLY IN DOWNTOWN

The Wrocław heating network is over 530 km long and is one of the longest in the country. Fortum has spent over 200 million PLN on its development since 2006, connecting nearly 26 thousand houses, and thus over 64 thousand new recipients. In recent years, Fortum has built heating mains to Nowe Żerniki and Kępa Mieszczańska. Later this year, heat will flow to recipients in Wroclaw's Maślice. Works aimed at joining several thousand apartments on the Jagodno estate have also begun. In the next few years, the network is planned to be expanded in Brochów, in the area of Świebodzki Station, as well as in the area of Kamieńskiego, Racławicka, Jaracza, Gorlicka and Gnieźnieńska Streets.
